Aalto Model 611

Finmar

1930’s

The Model 611 chair, derived from the 11 chair, is one of Aalto's simplest pieces, designed for stacking. The concept of attaching the chair legs to the sides rather than base of the seat, greatly impressed Aalto who helped improve the form of the original chair by Korhonen, refining and ultimately simplifying the design. An unornamented, clean and visually economical chair. Made from birch wood, with a laminated plywood seat and back, this version has been lacquered white, which has taken on a cream hue with age.

Some minor defects, scratches and dents, as would be expected with a chair of this age. Original Finmar and stamp and plate visible on the underside.
