Arts and Craft Stool

Anonymous

late 19th century

Charming limed oak stool of unknown origin, reminiscent of early Heals designs.

The seat has been traditionally rebuilt and upholstered in fabric by British textile designer Beatrice Larkin, a geometric design woven with a herringbone weave.

The fabric was chosen as Larkins's designs often remind us of those early modernist pieces of Anni Albers and suits the stools design, being positioned at that fascinating early twentieth century intersection of Arts & Crafts and Bauhaus.
